Day Associates is a consultancy that helps companies and governments understand and address their business and human rights challenges.
While we work on complex issues, we strive to work simply and effectively with clients to consider and embed a human rights perspective into existing strategies, policies, and operating systems.
In our view, understanding human rights risks and impacts shouldn't be viewed as difficult or challenging - it's common sense; in essence, another form of business intelligence akin to financial, legal or political risk analysis.
What makes us tick? That's easy...
We relish opportunities that allow us to research situations, analyse data, develop insights, identify trends, raise awareness, build capacity, and influence processes to make them more human rights compatible.
How do we do this? We adopt a multidisciplinary approach to our work.
This means we use our diverse knowledge-base and background and bring it all to the mix.
Within our Associates, we have a diverse group of individuals, highly knowledgeable on business and human rights issues, based on many years working for companies, governments, intergovernmental organisations and NGOs who have led the way in advancing business and human rights.
Added to our diverse set of people, our work is guided by our:
Beliefs - We believe in building the capacity of individuals and organisations. We always strive to work in collaboration with our clients and focus on co-creating solutions.
Moral compass - Working with integrity is important to us. This means, we work with clients who demonstrate a genuine commitment to understanding and addressing their human rights challenges, and express a real desire to improve situations for the betterment of their stakeholders.
Guiding Principles - Many international responsible business standards inform our work, such as the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, IFC Performance Standards, UN Global Compact Ten Principles, and the OECD Guidelines on Multinational Enterprises. We are also guided by regional standards, such as the African Charter of Human and Peoples' Rights, sectoral standards, such as the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights, and key pieces of national legislation, such as the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
We are particularly enthusiastic about advancing gender equality and children's rights, so we always look at human rights challenges through these additional lenses, using the Children's Rights and Business Principles and the Women's Empowerment Principles as our guiding instruments.
We are a bright, adaptable and experienced group of individuals that can turn our minds to all things - business and human rights-related! So if you have a business and human rights query or are curious about who we are or what we do, do contact us, we'd welcome hearing from you!
